Antenna & Equipment Installation

4G-to-5G modifications, antenna swaps and radio installs — climbed, torqued and swept to spec, with a photo-documented closeout for every sector.

Overview

This is top-of-tower work: antennas coming off, antennas going on, RRUs and radios mounted and jumpered, feedlines run and dressed, and the sector swept before we call it done. We run these as mod jobs on live sites as often as we run them on new builds, which means coordinating around active traffic, carrier MOPs and site access windows is normal, not an exception.

We install to the RF data sheet and mount drawing we're given — azimuth, downtilt, mounting height and mechanical clearance — and we don't leave a sector without a sweep showing it's clean.

What's Included

  • 4G to 5G equipment modifications and overlay installs
  • Antenna removal, replacement and new antenna add per RF data sheet (azimuth, downtilt, mounting height)
  • RRU / radio unit mounting, jumper and DC power connections
  • Feedline and fiber jumper routing, dressing and grounding at entry port and ice bridge
  • Mount hardware installation — pipe mounts, platforms, sled frames
  • Post-install line sweep and PIM testing before sector turn-up
  • Torque verification on all mounting and connector hardware

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you work on a live site without taking the sector down longer than planned?
Yes — mod work on live sites is a regular part of this scope. We plan the sequence against your MOP and carrier outage window and keep the downtime to what was approved.
Do you install to the RF data sheet we provide, or do you redesign the mount layout?
We install to the RF data sheet and mount drawing as issued. If something in the field doesn't match the drawing — a clearance conflict, a structural interference — we flag it before we proceed rather than improvise.
What test results do we get after the install?
A line sweep and PIM test result for every sector touched, plus an as-built record of antenna position versus the RF data sheet, before we release the sector for turn-up.
Do your climbers have RF exposure training?
Yes — FCC OET-65 RF awareness and exposure safety is part of every crew member's certification, which matters for work near live transmitting antennas on a co-located site.

Crew & Certifications

  • OSHA-30 site leads, OSHA-10 on every crew member
  • Authorized climber & rescue trained to ANSI/ASSP Z359
  • RF awareness & exposure safety per FCC OET-65 — required for any work near live transmitting antennas
  • Riggers for material hoisting per ANSI/ASSP A10.48
  • First Aid / CPR / AED current on every crew

Equipment

  • Capstan hoist for antenna and RRU hoisting
  • RF line sweep and PIM test gear
  • Torque wrenches calibrated to connector and mount hardware spec
  • Fall protection and rescue kit staged on every climb

Documentation

  • Site-specific JSA covering RF exposure and live-site hazards
  • As-built mount and antenna position record (azimuth/downtilt as installed vs. RF data sheet)
  • Sweep and PIM test results per sector
  • Torque log for mounting and connector hardware
  • Photo-documented closeout package

Mobilization

We typically mobilize within 24–72 hours of a signed scope, depending on crew location and distance from the nearest base (Philadelphia PA, Florida, Colorado).
